Between 1975 and 1979, 25% of the Cambodian population were killed during the Cambodian genocide under the Khmer Rouge regime. The Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and the Choeung Ek Killing Fields in Phnom Penh, Cambodia were where many were taken to be tortured and killed during this horrific period of time in Cambodian history.
